  • Rebuild Array stuck at 0%

    Updated: 2012-12-21 05:56:54
I have a Poweredge 2900 that is running RAID-1 with 2x750GB SAS disks on a SAS 6/IR controller. Both of the drives showed as failure predicted so I pulled one drive and let it rebuild with my hot spare, a 1TB SAS disk. After 8 hours, going through OMSA, the state of the new drive shows "rebuilding" but clicking on further details, shows progress @ 0% complete. The server is running at a crawl, so it feels like something is going on, but I can't tell. Can anybody help or have any ideas? Thanks!

  • PowerEdge 840 raid controlelr failed

    Updated: 2012-12-20 14:28:31
Client has a PowerEdge 840 and the Raid controller has failed. The part is E2K-UCS-51 (B). Can I get the part from Dell directly? When swapping it out should I take out 1 of the drives (they are mirrored) before installing replacement controller? If this does not solve it can I take the drive out. They are Hard Drive, 160G, S2, 7.2K, 8M Unleaded, Seagate-Tonka and read them using an external adapter connected to another live machine, if so what kind of adapter will I need? In other words can I connect something usb to a working machine and plug in the drive and read the data off of it?

  • Which SATA/SAS cable for PERC H310

    Updated: 2012-12-15 11:15:03
Right now I have one SSD disk connected to PERC H310 in my T3600 desktop. I want to add couple more SATA disks but turns out I have only one sata cable in my PERC controller. This single cable can handle two disks so probably all I need is a SATA cable that can connect a single disk. This way I can connect two disks on the existing cable and move SDD to the new cable. I am unsure which cable I should buy so it will work with PERC H310 and I didn't see anything on the Dell website in the accessories. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks,Radek
